| Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions about Number Fun.
What made you write these new Maths songs?
'After writing some Collective Worship songs with Maths links a few years ago,
I was challenged to write again. What came out was a set of songs specifically written
to support the Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage Maths objectives. I trialled the songs
in the Summer of 2001, there has been an overwhelmingly positive reception to the new
material. That led to the full Number Fun Song Resource Pack being published in February
2003 and it's sister resource, the Number Fun Activity Resource Pack being published
in January 2004. There are now 8 Number Fun resource packs that cover
Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I hope you find them a tremendous support in your teaching of Mathematics!'
How do I order any Number Fun Resources?
From October 2010 you can now order online via our online shop. Alternatively we have a downloadable order form found on the Resources page. This order form, or indeed any official school order form, can either faxed or posted to the Omega Zone Publishing office.
Office details are on the Home page.
How do I book a Number Fun Activity Day?
Details about the Number Fun Activity Days are found on the Consultancy Page. To check current prices and available dates, please phone the Number Fun office on 01904 778848 or email Anne via the contacts page.
Are there any other Number Fun resources planned?
Yes! The next Number Fun resource will be Song Resource Pack 5! This KS2 bonus pack will cover extra concepts not covered in Song Resource Pack 3 and 4! Song themes include Chunking, Partitioning, Factors, Digital and Analogue clocks, Ratios, Multiplication and Division, and a load of Table Trooper Songs to cover the different times tables! Expected release date is March 2011.
For what aged children are these songs pitched?
One of the things that has amazed me is how flexible the songs have proved to be. Songs such as Doubling Machine have been used from Nursery to Y6, simply by changing some of the lyrics! Song Resource Packs 1 and 2 have been pitched for FS and KS1. Song Resource Packs 3 and 4 are pitched at lower and upper KS2 respectively. The Farmer Pete and Friends Interactive Whiteboard software has really helped to adapt the initial KS1 material into KS2.
Is Number Fun suitable for children with special needs?
Due to the musical, visual and interactive nature of the material, the songs have proved a
real winner with special needs schools and their children. I have spend a growing number of
days in Special Schools.
We have the Number Fun and On the Shoulders of Giants CD's and we use
then all the time. We see that you have recorded CD's for the 'Christian
Market'. Are any of the songs on them suitable for use in Schools?
The songs marked for the 'Christian Market' are Bible songs, fun songs and simple
worship songs. Some of these songs I know are used in schools up and down the country,
but due to the devotional nature of some of the songs I do not count them as
Educational Resources. There are some sound clips on the Omega Zone Website which you are very welcome to visit.
If I purchase the 'On The Shoulders Of Giants Teacher Pack', do I also
have to buy the 'On The Shoulders Of Giants CD and Songbook'?
No. The Shoulders of Giants CD and Songbook are part of the Teacher Pack. For £20 you get a copy of the Songbook and CD, as well as a copy of it's sister resource 'Assemblies that Count'. My songs were written to accompany this book of assembly outlines.
