Activity Resource Pack 2
Farmer Pete's Chicken Song
Addition Problem Solving
This song makes use of one of the laminated game board as well as it's own photocopyable sheet.
Each day Farmer Pete counts the number of eggs laid by his chickens in the hen house, and how many have been laid in the barn. It is an addition problem solving song around which several activities and games can be based.
Laminated Game Boards and Counters
The game boards help children picture the scene and the counters enable them to interact with the song.
In the Song “Safe in the Barn” ten sheep are lost around the farm. In each verse of the song a sheep is found and placed safe in the barn, until all ten sheep are out of harm's way. Using the backing track the song can be adapted two (or any other number) of sheep are found each verse.
The game boards are A4 in size and are laminated which makes them both wipeable and durable. The character counters are made of thin, water-resistant, card which has been pre-cut so all you have to do is give then a gentle push to detach them from the surrounding card.
Click on the graphics left and right to see the an example of a game board and sheep counter. Please note that the counter is small (25mm diameter) and the quality of the game board picture has had to be reduced to allow for faster internet downloading.
